Rules

  • Eligibility
    The Halloween Trivia Hunt is free and open to everyone, any age, playing solo or as a group. Employees of Shenandoah Edge and the people in their households are welcome to hunt for fun, but they can't win the prize. Players under 18 need a parent or guardian's OK to register.
  • Registration
    All players must register an account to participate. Each individual or group is limited to one account. Creating multiple accounts may lead to disqualification.
  • Gameplay
    Explore your community to find signs featuring distinctive QR codes. Use your mobile device to scan these QR codes, which will unlock a spooky-themed trivia riddle. Each riddle can only be answered once per registered account, so make your answer count!
  • Scoring
    Every correct answer earns points, and a streak earns more:
    • 1st correct answer in a row: 10 points
    • 2nd correct answer in a row: 20 points
    • 3rd correct answer in a row, and every one after: 30 points
    A wrong answer earns nothing and starts your streak over at zero. Scores update on the public leaderboard as soon as you answer.
  • Hints
    Some riddles offer a hint. If you reveal it and then answer correctly, you get 5 fewer points for that riddle, and your streak keeps going. A wrong answer after a hint scores 0 like any wrong answer.
  • The Prize
    The Top Ghoul takes home the LEGO® Pokémon™ Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise set (72153): 6,838 pieces, ages 18+, approx. retail value $649.99. There is one prize, with no cash value or substitute. LEGO and Pokémon are trademarks of their owners and are not sponsors of this hunt.
  • Winning & Ties
    When the countdown hits zero, the Ghoul with the highest score wins. If two or more Ghouls are tied, the tie is broken in this order:
    1. Most riddles solved
    2. Longest correct streak
    3. Earliest time the tied score was reached
    4. Random draw
  • Claiming the Prize
    We'll contact the winner at the email address on their account. The prize must be claimed in person in Winchester, VA, by Saturday, November 14, 2026. Winners under 18 must claim it with a parent or guardian, and group accounts choose one adult to claim for the group. If the prize isn't claimed in time, it goes to the next Ghoul on the leaderboard.
  • Fair Play
    Don't tamper with, damage, move or remove any QR code sign. Sharing answers, riddles or QR codes with other players is not allowed and may lead to disqualification. Solve every riddle with your own wits: no searching online and no asking AI. Signs live at local businesses, so be a good guest: hunt during open hours and say hello on your way in.
  • Event Duration
    The hunt ends when the countdown reaches zero: Saturday, October 31 at midnight (Eastern). After that, no more answers are accepted and the leaderboard is final.
